Glam Anonymous

It has come to my attention, Gg’s, that not all of us are comfortable with our inner Glam and expressing it in public. It’s interesting because I come from a long line of Glam and overdressing and expressing yourself through clothing and make-up. I went forth in Glam and was not always taken seriously or applauded for my efforts. I had such a good Glam support system, however, that I always brushed it off and wore too much blush or sequins to school because I was ME. Continue reading

Another Great Sushi Place?! Yup.

I was in the Chicago land area last weekend and had a couple of really amazing meals. (No surprise there.) Two of which happened to be sushi. Here’s the story of one of those meals. Continue reading

The Rose Golden Touch

I DIE

Rose Gold is back from the past taking the world by storm. It’s long been my favorite since I inherited my  great grandmother’s class ring from 1926 and wondered how it was pink! A mix of copper and white gold, there is actually no “natural” rose gold.  Rose gold is different and fun and looks great with a tan or especially with people that have pinkish undertones in their skin. Luckily that is me and I am ROCKING it Ggs! Continue reading

Easter Cheese Cake

Every day this week I’ve been posed the question, “what should I bring to an Easter brunch?” The first answer is “something simple.” But I’m tired of suggesting salads, deviled eggs, or cookies. This time I wanted to offer something that would impress AND was easy to make. Tah dah! Mini Cheesecakes! Continue reading

Anti-Aging Anyone?

Looking young at 42

These days you should look 20 in your 30′s, 30 in your 40′s and 40 in your 50′s… You get the point. I have been exploring how to stay looking young. I am going to be 36 and I feel like I can see it. All over my face. I can’t pass for anything but mid-30′s anymore and I am kind of sad about it.  OK, I am obsessed, and frankly not quite ready to go the Botox route, although I am NOT against Botox and the wonders it can work on a face.

Zombie Burger + Drink Lab

I had a life-changing dining experience. No, I didn’t die and come back as the undead. But I was definitely in heaven for a while. I was in Des Moines, IA at Zombie Burger + Drink Lab. Continue reading

Pinterested?

I didn’t want to give in. I spend all day at a computer, I check my facebook like a good social networker, I text, I play Words with Friends and Hangin’ with Friends, and Scramble. Frankly I am too socially connected. I was against Pinterest. I received several invitations from ladies urging me to join. I had NO interest in Pinterest. Then one lonely evening when my husband was out of town I accepted the invite. Continue reading

Show Your Irish!

St. Patty’s Day is tomorrow. And it’s the first St. Pat’s to fall on a Saturday since 2007. AND we are officially in a warming trend to beat all warming trends. Wednesday, March 14th in Minneapolis was 75F. It was outstanding! So I’m going out on a limb and guessing more people than usual are going to be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with flare.

Spring Trend COLOR (if you haven’t noticed already)

Pic courtesy #TargetColor

Love this commercial. Have you seen it?? It literally makes me HAPPY. Color is Everywhere! And color IS everywhere. Like slamming you in the face! My closet is a neutral gutter of clothing and I long for hot orange, citrine, and neon pink things.  This is GOOD for us Gg’s on a budget. VERY good.

Brussels Sprouts You Can’t Resist

Pic courtesy Zephyr Organics

In an early homage to St. Pat’s, which is NEXT Saturday, I thought I would tell you about cabbage’s smaller sibling – the brussels sprout. I know, you hear the name and horrible childhood memories of gagging them back come flooding in. But these ain’t your mamma’s brussels sprouts.
